We took the public transport (hop on and off )For route Pena for 5 euros each. The best part about this transport is you can get on and off through the day with the same ticket. The Moorish Castle was where we got off first. And it was a hot day to walk of the aka 'Great Wall of china'. But the initial walk was gorgeous as we walked through trees and flowers and it was beautiful. We first passed by the tomb of the unknown ( perhaps Islamic), the tomb tower, mini museum before we started climbing the wall and it was a climb and carrying Cooper got me tired but I kept on going. Gareth wanted to go on his own but I kept taking breaks till a point I could walk no more. Gareth carried on and I let him do so as it was one way. He is brave! While we rested and fed our hungry bellies, Gareth returned all drenched in sweat. He was tired and fished all the water we had :-).
We walked back and decided to head over to Palacio de Pena even though we wanted to call it a day. We took the HOHO bus and got to Pena, we could walk through the gardens for 15 - 20 minutes but we decided to take the internal bus instead for 3 euros each. Pena is like a Disney castle colorful yellow and red. Yellow is the new and Red is the old part. We headed straight for the cafeteria and rested there as Cooper was asleep and ate and drank like there's no tomorrow. We had wifi for company and 3 lady travelers in their 50's. When we proceeded to see the castle, a charming guard shared so much history about the castle with Gareth. He told us about the Monks and the monastery where they meditated. If it wasn't for Cooper we could listen to him forever.
