Quinta de Regalaria
It was a grueling walk uphill after Route 243 (2.50 euros per person) dropped us at QDR. For 6 euros /adult and kids enter free we had the most amazing time of our life. We had a map but we didn't look at it at all, we decided to go with the flow. It started of when we saw a little waterfall with people watching it and we were curious so we decided to go and see what's it all about. So people were hesitating to walk over pillars that were apart in a pool of water. Ahem! So I carried Cooper with one hand and Gareth with the other and told him to lead with one foot at a time, and when I said 'go' he would move the other foot and I would move mine on the next pillar. So it was all coordinated and we did it! So another mother saw me do that and followed me :-). I have no video footage of that but it sure seemed like an Indiana Jones scene 😬. We entered the dark caves and it had many paths we took one and it led us straight to the pit of a 27 feet well. It had gorgeous spiral staircase. It was magical. We decided to explore the other cave tunnels and it led to different areas of the cave. Thank god for my iPhone torch! We walked out of the cave the same way we got there - yes the Indiana Jones way! We walked up the hill and got to a beautiful sit out area with marble carvings of salamanders. We walked through the tunnels and arrived at the mid of spiral staircase. We took the staircase up and reached on the top of the hill but we needed to get our stroller so Gareth assured me he would get me to the right spot. So he took me right down and exited again out - yes the Indiana Jones way for the final time 😬. We walked out the most amazing adventure spot with a heavy heart but was sure more adventure awaited us. We reached at a beautiful fountain and Gareth and Cooper played a lot but we had to go and explore the entire site. We walked through many gorgeous pitstops with marble carved sit outs with lion carvings and dog carvings. We crossed a beautiful duck pond and a gorgeous tower that had beautiful carvings and finally arrived at the Regalaria Palace and chapel.
