Sintra - The National Palace

27 July
The National Palace Sintra
We landed in gorgeous Sintra in the afternoon and enjoyed the walk from the station to the Palace. The winding roads, people, artisans, architecture and the greenery made us 3 very happy indeed. We purchased our tickets for 3 castles (53 euros) and were very sure we would only do one per day. The palace was gorgeous with wooden furniture, porcelain art objects, fountains, staircases, sculptures, paintings and an amazing ceiling. I had to sit and enjoy the ceiling as it was magical. So much beauty in one day was aphrodisiac for me. Gareth enjoyed every bit of it and for Cooper it was a game of thrones running about here and there I guess. The chapel was beautiful and The kitchen was big which had one of the white towers and our voice echoed endlessly. On our way back we stopped by to play with a man who kept several buckets for passerby a to play with making giant bubbles. We 3 had a fun time playing and that was the highlight of Cooper's day if you asked him what he did. We had ice creams and sandwiches at a cafe while we waited for Natacha to arrive.
We went shopping later.
