Lisbon and St. George Castle

Day 4
We decided to take the metro to Rossio and a bus to St George Fort atop the hill with the famous Portuguese stone flooring. It had the most scenic 360 view of Lisboa. It was originally built by Arabs in the 7th century. It had so many towers and each of them had significance ex. One had two lions, important documents, treasury, water harvesting, etc. There were beautiful blue & white peacocks, pigeon and doves in the romantic garden and living in harmony with humans at the overpriced sit out restaurant as people shared their meal with them.

Cooper saw a bit of the castle and fell asleep whilst I took Raquel and Gareth to climb atop the steep staircase in the fort to the towers.

Yolanda came over after work and took us for a lovely walk down the hill to visit some lovely sites to view the city, the St George church, St Antonio church where girls can become brides. St Carmo convent, Rua do Carmo had shops with embroidery work whilst Rua do Agusta was up street and modern with artists performing(clowns, magic tricks, dancers), painters, violinists etc...

We had healthy pasta with shrimps and salad at a mall overlooking Rua do Agusta before we headed to see the rest of the street squares and famous landmarks around the place.
